Harvey Johnson, Jr.

Harvey Johnson Jr., 81, of Canton, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, December, 15th 2024 at 11:00 AM. Harvey was born in Canton, Illinois on May 10th 1943. Harvey is proceeded in death by his father Harvey Johnson, Sr. and his mother Barbara (Whiteman) Johnson. Harvey married Mary (Oldham) Johnson on April 12th, 1965 in Canton, Illinois. Mary proceeds Harvey in death.

He is also preceded in death by three sisters.

Harvey Johnson, Jr. is survived by his beloved children; Harvey (Cynthia) Johnson, III., Judith Johnson, Thomas Johnson and Nicholas (Shellie) Johnson. Grandchildren; Brock (Heather) Long , Trenton (Amber) Long, Jackson Johnson, Etaliana Johnson, Ezabella Johnson, Hope Johnson, and Haven Johnson. Great-grandchildren; Davina Long, Vivian Long, Dean Long, Carter Long, Mason Long, and Elizabeth Long. Siblings; Larry “Rick” (Rhonda) Johnson, Daniel (Sheryl) Johnson, James Johnson, Barbra “Bobi” (Woody) Moore, Luellen “Ellie” Vaughn, Melannie (Doug) Jallas, and proceeded in death; Christina Stevens, Mellissa (Roger) Arnett, and Cheryle (Larry) Nebergall.

Harvey Johnson Jr. attended Lewistown High School and finished his GED while in the ARMY. Harvey worked for Allied Mills for 18 years, security services INC for 10 years, and eventually retired in 2012 from Aventine security. Harvey was a member of Canton Elks 626 for 20 years and a member of the American Legion in Lewistown. Harvey served in the United States Army from 1966 – 1968.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM on Friday December 20, 2024 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL. Service will be held at 2:00 PM the same day. Rev. Kevin VanTine will officiate. Burial with Military Honors will follow services at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton, IL. Memorials may be made to Greater Peoria Honor Flight.
