John 'Wayne' Young

John 'Wayne’ Young, aged 69, of Washington, IL, cherished father, beloved brother, and adored uncle, peacefully departed this world on September 1, 2023. He graced our lives with his presence on April 18, 1954, in Peoria, Illinois, born to the loving embrace of Mary Katherine and Hubert “Boss” Young.

He is survived by his devoted children, Tierany (Tony) Clague, Alyssa (Tom) Barnwell, Jonathan (Jessica) Young; his step-daughters, Jeanette (Tom) Morse and Tammy (Aaron) Elliott; his devoted sister, Donna Young; a multitude of cherished grandchildren; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Matthew Young; his beloved wife, Mary Brown; his dear mother, Mary Young; and his father, Hurbert Young.

Wayne proudly dedicated 30 years of his life to Caterpillar before retiring in 2002, Wayne’s heart overflowed with love for everyone who entered his life. He found joy in cooking, lending a helping hand, and basking in the warmth of family gatherings.

Wayne will forever be remembered as a master of conversation, a magnet of friendships, and an embodiment of boundless compassion. He was always ready to extend a helping hand without a single inquiry. His unwavering commitment to assisting and providing for others was a source of immense pride for him.

Cremation rites have been respectfully observed.

Gerald "Jerry" Vernon Hackman

Gerald “Jerry” Vernon Hackman passed away peacefully with his wife by his side at Mason District Hospital in Havana on September 3, 2023 at the age of 79.

He was born in Canton, Illinois on November 19, 1943, the only child of the late Vernon and Pauline Hackman. He graduated from Havana High School and spent several years in the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam Era.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Christina (Dringenberg) Hackman of 27 years, along with his sons, Shane (Kelly) Hackman of Bloomington, Illinois and Troy (Brooke) Hackman of Kilbourne, as well as step-children, Joe (Emily) Connell of Spring, Texas and Mandi (Dan) Bailey of Pekin, Illinois, along with his surviving 10 grandchildren, Morghan, Kaileb, Lyndsey, and Jace Hackman, Olivia Summers, Sable, Zoe, and Skylar Cartwright, and Katherine Connell and 3 step-grandchildren, Kaleb and Karlie Flinn and Olivia Summers. Jerry is fondly remembered by his sisters-in-law, Barb Kramer of Pekin, Illinois, Deborah (Gary) Cartwright of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, and Vicki (Mel) Canada of Manito, Illinois, and brothers-in-law, Dave (Christy) Dringenberg of Delavan, Illinois, Jerry (Lil) Dringenberg of Puyallup, Washington, and Larry (Sunnie) Dringenberg of Newport News, Virginia. He was predeceased by his grandson, Brady Hackman.
Jerry worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company for 36 years. He retired in 2001 after spending most of his career in accounting. He was an avid duck hunter and bowler in his early years, a fan of Nascar and the White Sox. He was also a member and past Commander of VFW Post #6408 in Havana. Jerry had a passion for baseball cards, collectables, and antiques. He and his wife owned the Havana Antique Emporium in Havana and What-A-Hit Baseball Card Shop in Delavan, Illinois for many years. Jerry enjoyed gathering with friends and family often to play cards and marbles. His legendary fresh squeezed lemonade was the BEST according to his grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana, Illinois on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. James Terrell will officiate. Military detail will be provided by VFW Post #6408 and American Legion Post #138.

Sarah M. Eskridge

Sarah M. Eskridge, 53, of rural Cuba, passed away at 11:35 am Sunday September 3, 2023 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

She was born May 17, 1970 at Carthage, IL; the daughter of French and Dorothy (Neally) Mowrer. She married Ralph Eskridge on March 16, 2019 at Las Vegas, NV. He survives with her mother, Dorothy Mowrer of Lewistown, four children, Grace (Jarrod Smith) Lafary of Canton, Donald (Sydney Bowcott) Eskridge of Wee-Ma-Tuk, Stephen Eskridge of Canton, and William Eskridge of Tacoma, WA, two grandson, Brantley Robert Bair, and Jacob Robert Eskridge, and two very close friends, Kelly Freeman, and Susan Kelso. She was preceded in death by her father.

Sarah worked at the Hancock County Court House in Carthage and later worked at the Fulton County Court House in the States Attorney Office for over 20 years. She loved being a farm wife and riding in tractors and semis. She loved being with family and friends and especially being a Memaw.

Services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday September 9, 2023 at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown, where visitation will be held Friday from 5-7 pm. Pastor Mike Arnett will officiate and burial will be at Fiatt Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Illinois Cancer Center in Peoria. Robert "Bob" Allen Feger

Canton—Robert “Bob” Allen Feger, 74, of Canton, formerly of Lewistown, passed at 11:25pm September 1, 2023 at Carle Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born June 30,1949 to Robert L and Minnie (Chaney) Feger and stepson of Florence Feger. On May 10,1969 he married Vicki (VanHouten) Feger, whom later divorced yet remained friends.

Together they have 3 children: Ezra (Jamie) of Virginia, Kendyll (Clyde) Breweur of Canton, and Austin (fiancée Alysa Carle) of Farmington; and 11 grandchildren: Xander, Cooper, Aiden, Graecee, Wyatt, Kinleigh, Bentley, Brailey, Addalind, Keenan, and Johnathon. He also leaves behind his sisters Deborah Willis, Sandra Spencer, and Sharon Malueg of WI and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, brothers Boyd Morse and Edgar Morse, stepsister Cindy stepsister Yvonne, & stepbrother Duaine Montoure.

Bob was an Army Veteran, serving in Germany during the Vietnam Era as a mechanic and later served in the active Army Reserves in Peoria. Additionally, he became an auxiliary police officer and Lewistown Police Officer. In February 1990, he began his career with Illinois River Correctional Center where he would retire from on December 31st, 2009. He was an avid dirt track racing fan, tolerated NASCAR, loved to travel and to watch old westerns. He enjoyed being outdoors-mowing, going to races (especially with his boys), or tinkering in the garage. His favorite pastime was “shootin’ the shit” with people at the coffee shops.

His family wishes to thank the staff of Methodist hospital, especially Dr. Scott Reid.

Per Bob’s wishes, there will be no services and cremation rites accorded. The family will have a private placement of ashes at a later date.

Jean McGuire

Marilyn J. “Jean” Barclay McGuire,76, of Canton, passed away at 8:30 am, Friday, September 1, 2023 at Aperion Care in Peoria Heights. She was born on July 22, 1947 in Peoria to Paul and Marilyn J. (Hardesty) Barclay.

Jean spent her childhood riding horses with her brother Paul. She then graduated from “Our Lady of the Highlands” of Fort Thomas Kentucky. She was a wild free spirit that blazed a life for herself, full of friends and laughter. She was as fierce and loyal as they come. She was proceeded in death by her parents and sister-in-law Linda. She leaves behind one brother Paul L. Barclay, two nephews; Bob (Cher) Barclay and James (Glennette) Barclay, niece Trisha (Jack) Coulter-Griffith, nine great nieces and nephews and three great-great nieces and nephews.

Patricia Jo McKenna

Patricia Jo McKenna, 78, died on August 30, 2023. She was born on March 17, 1945, in Wichita,

Kansas, the sixth of eight children. She married Phillip E. McKenna on October 24, 1970.

Together they had six children: Ben, Mark, Anne, Tom, Kate and Mary. She will be missed
tremendously by her husband, her children and her 12 grandchildren: Will, Emily, Ruby, Ethan,
Nancy, Tess, Lucy, Molly, Danny, Eli, Mabel and Jo, as well as her daughters-and-sons-in-law:
Andi, Sarah, Pablo, Mika, David and Mike, and her remaining sisters, Therese and Bernadette.

A private funeral will be held for immediate family only. A community gathering to remember Patricia will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, September 16 at the American Legion in Mason City, Illinois.

Daryl "Posey" Phillips

Daryl “Posey” Phillips, 75, of Farmington, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at the Sunset Manor in Canton.

He was born on October 14, 1947 in Canton to Harold and Violet (Malmgren) Phillips. They preceded him in death along with two sisters, Donna Locke and Jolene Hill.

He married Linda Suydam on October 7, 1967 in Farmington. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Kevin (Jodi) Phillips of Trivoli, Melanie (Scott) Patterson of Farmington, one brother, John (the late Sharon) Phillips of Glasford, grandchildren, Abbie Phillips, Katie Patterson, Emily (Christian) Miller, Kelsey Patterson, Blake (Erica) Johnson, Kaitlyn (Ryan) Stobaugh, Alexis Haynes, great grandchildren, Wesley Patterson, Cooper and Tucker Johnson, Vivian and Rowan Stobaugh and his nieces and nephews.

Daryl was the co-owner of Flowers by Linda in Farmington from 1973 to 1995. He then worked at Bill Doran Wholesale Florist for 31 years. He was a member of the Farmington Fire Department and an EMT for 24 years. He achieved the rank of Assistant Chief in charge of EMTs for several years. He raised Simmental cattle and had a Master’s degree in fence repair.
