Rose Marie Courey

Rose M. Courey, 79, of Banner, passed away, on November 12, 2023, at 1:23 p.m. after a courageous battle with cancer at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born on February 3, 1944, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Joseph and Anna Marie Courey. They preceded her in death along with two children, Bertha Leffler, and Mark Wilson.

She is survived by three children, Daniel Leffler, Rose Schultzen, and Walter Hutchinson, one brother Joe Courey, many grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.

Rose volunteered for 14 years at Wildlife Prairie Park. She loved making soap and tending to plants and gardening. She was an excellent cook and baker, and enjoyed setting up and selling soaps and plants on the annual Spoon River Scenic Drive.

Rose will Donated to the Anatomical Gift Association in Chicago for scientific/medical research, and later cremated and buried in Calvary Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa. A celebration of life will also be held at a later date.
