James L. Long


Canton – James L. “Jim” Long, 90, of Canton, passed away at 7:49 AM on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at his residence. He was born on November 24, 1928 in Canton to Alvin and Mamie (Jarnigan) Long. He married Marlene K. Berry on February 7, 1954 in Wesley United Methodist Church in Canton. She preceded him in death on October 24, 2017.

Jim was also preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Harry Long Sr.

Surviving are two children, Linda James of Canton and Brad (and Diane) Long of Lexington, KY, two grandchildren, Katelin Deushane and Austin Long, and his beloved dog, Maudie.

Jim worked as a fire inspector for Caterpillar. He was a member of Maples Mills United Methodist Church.

Jim served in the United States Army.

Services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, where a visitation will be held from 10-11 AM. Rev. Jerry Sawyer will officiate.
