Peggy L. Utsinger

Canton -Peggy L. Utsinger, 78, of Canton, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born on July 10, 1943, in Shelbyville, Illinois, to Harry David and Doris Lorraine (Conrad) Steck. They preceded her in death along with one brother Gary Steck, and four sisters, Hazel Steck Donna Greer, Shirley Brown and Joyce Wall.
She married Warren Utsinger Sr. on February 24, 1962, in Canton. He preceded her in death on March 28, 2019.
She is survived by three children Warren Utsinger Jr, Ron (Kathy) Utsinger, Terry (Laura) Utsinger, all of Ellisville, four grandchildren, Courtney (Eric Farden), Wesley, Chris and Brooke Utsinger, two great grandchildren, Ozlynn and Oliver Utsinger, three sisters, Phyllis Wheeler of Hudson, Sandra (Buck) Bowen of Baring Missouri, and Helen Steck of Canton, two brothers, Harry (Carol) Steck and Larry (Alice) Steck both of Canton, several nieces and nephews, their faithful dog, Rocky, and two God children whom she treated as her own, Tiffany Greene and Michelle McKown.
Peggy had worked at Valley High school for several years as a secretary to the principal. She later worked for the Illinois Department of Correction at Illinois River Correctional Center in Canton from 1988 until she retired in 2008.
She was a member of the Wiley Lutheran Church in Ellisville, she enjoyed playing cards and camping with her sisters. Most of all she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all her family.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday August 28, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday August 27, 2021 from 5
:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Burial will be held at Wiley Cemetery
Memorials may be to the Fairview Fire Department.
