Martha J. Hudson

Martha J. Hudson, 93, passed away at 2:50 a.m., on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Proctor Place in Peoria.

She was born March 4, 1928, to Howard and Louise (Shissler) Schlots. She married Lester Hudson on January 15, 1949, at the First Presbyterian Church in Elmwood. He preceded her in death on December 29, 1990.
Martha is survived by four children: Pat (Gene) Vaughan of Elmwood, Joan (Dave) Gorham of Elmwood, Ellen (Paul) Marincic of Oglesby, and Rocky (Karen) Hudson of Mapleton; eight grandchildren, Matt (Renee) Vaughan, David (Katie) Vaughan, Jennifer (Brad) Kennedy, Tom (Anne) Gorham, Angela (Joe) Wyatt, Hannah Marincic, Alisha (Jason) Brown, and Sam (Hiral) Hudson; twenty great-grandchildren; and one-great-great-grandchild.
She is also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Donald Schlots; and one sister, Marjorie Klemm.
Martha was a former member of the Elmwood Community Chorus, P.E.O. Chapter AO, and the First Presbyterian Church of Elmwood for 80 years.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 10, 2021, at the First Presbyterian Church in Elmwood. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church.
The family requests that all attending wear masks and social distance.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Elmwood, B.Y.E. Ambulance, and the Elmwood Fire Department.
