She was born October 2, 1942 at Macomb the daughter of Clyde and Esther (Shaffer) Irwin. She married Vernon E. Mitchell on September 29, 1958 at Canton. He died September 24, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Terry Mitchell and one brother, Robert Irwin. Surviving are her partner since 2009 Brian McMahon of Cuba, one daughter, Vicki (Billy) Atwater of Cuba, one son, Jeffrey (Carolyn) Mitchell of Albers, one brother, Dennis (Shirley) Irwin of Lewistown, ten grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren.
Dixie worked at the former Day & Palin in Cuba for many years. Dixie enjoyed NASCAR, socializing, and hanging out with her friends and family. Everyone called her Grandma Dixie.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Pastor Randy Munson officiating. Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery at Cuba. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the memorial home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cuba American Legion Russell Smith Post 533.
