Kenneth G. Welker, 77, of Farmington, passed away at 10:30 p.m., Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Richard L.Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.He was born July 21, 1944, in Canton, to Kenneth O. and Lorena (Ciardi) Welker.
He married Sharon Starcevich on April 28, 1968, at the Methodist Church in Farmington. She survives.
Also surviving are his brother-in-law and wife, Larry and Carilyn Starcevich; two sisters-in-law, Shirly and Gene Allen and Velma Harris; two special nephews, Bob and Eric Allen; two great nephews, Caden and Colton Allen; and one special niece, Ketra Shump; and a a host of other nieces and nephews; and two fur babies, Annie and Amanda.
Kenneth served in the Army Reserves for over six years. He then worked as a Machinist Repairman at International Harvester for 21 years and then at the Greater Peoria Sanitary District for 20 years. More recently, he enjoyed attending the Farmington football and basketball games. He also farmed and enjoyed restoring antique tractors as well as raising and showing horses. He had a "Bucket List" and one of his greatest accomplishments was to raise a World Champion, which he did not only once but twice! Kenneth was a member of the Farmington Moose, American Paint Horse Association, and Knox County Farm Bureau.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Friday August 27, 2021, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Elmwood. Cremation rites will then be accorded and a private burial of ashes will be held at a later date at Yates City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Farmington Athletic Booster Club, Elba-Salem Fire Department, and B.Y.E. Ambulance.
