Harley James Hickle, age 74 of Astoria, IL, passed away at 10:30 p.m. on
Friday, August 6, 2021 at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, IL. He
was born of August 5, 1947 in Macomb, IL, the son of Gilbert L. and Ruby
A. (Bowman) Hickle. On December 1, 1965, he married Kathy Ann Welker
in Vermont, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are his son Stephen (and Carmen) Hickle of Astoria, three
granddaughter; Brittany, Courtney, and Hailey Hickle, two sisters, Mary
(and Herb) Dilts of Marietta, IL and Shelley (and Bob) Haare of
Tennessee, and one brother, David (and Kim) Hickle of Bushnell, IL.
Harley was preceded in death by his son Jamie Hickle,
daughter/granddaughter Liberty Hickle, brother Michael Hickle, and his
parents.
He was a Shift Leader for Illinois Power, Dynegy, and later Vistra in Havana, IL for over 43 years, retiring in October of 2011.
Harley was a US Navy veteran, serving from 1965 to 1968 with a rank of BT2. His last duty assignment was aboard the USS Ozark.
He was a member of the Astoria American Legion Post #25 for over 50 years.
Harley loved his granddaughters dearly and loved riding his motorcycles.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 15, 2021 at
the Astoria Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Astoria
American Legion Post #25. There will be no visitation. Memorials may
be made to the legion.
