Jeffery W. Johnson

Canton – Jeffery W. Johnson, 58, of Canton, passed away at 8:37 AM on Friday, August 13, 2021 at his residence. He was born on August 16, 1962 in Rushville, IL to George “Jim” Johnson and Soundra Blurton. He married Lisa Tomlinson on September 2, 1984 at Shield Chapel United Methodist Church in Canton, IL. She survives.

Also surviving is his mother, Soundra Blurton Davis; one daughter, Christina (Brian Davis) Johnson of Peoria, IL; one granddaughter, Brooklynn Russell; one brother, Michael (Deb) Johnson of Canton, IL; one sister, Wendy (Todd) McGurk of Canton, IL; nieces, Morgan Staley, MyKayla McGurk, and Rebecca Clifford; and his in-laws, John and Nancy Tomlinson.

Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Jim; step-father, Jutt Davis; step-father, John Svetich; one brother, Robert Allen; and one sister, Cindy Johnson.

Jeff retired from SC2 in Bartonville, IL. He was a member at the Elks in Canton, IL and the Canton American Legion Post 16 where he was also an officer. Jeff also loved social time at the legion. He enjoyed camping, spending time with his daughter and granddaughter, especially watching his granddaughter play softball. Jeff was also an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.

Jeff served in the United States Army.

Burial of ashes with military honors will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton, IL. Following, a celebration of life will be held from 12 PM noon to 4 PM on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the Canton American Legion Post 16. Memorials can be made to an Education Fund for his granddaughter, Brooklynn in care of Ipava State Bank. Cremation rites will be accorded with Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL.
