Margaret Ann "Peg" France
Margaret Ann "Peg" France, age 88 of Astoria, Il, passed away at 8:11 pm Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the Mason District Hospital in Havana, IL. She was born on January 27, 1930 in Chandlerville, IL, the daughter of Gustav and Nelda (Keith) Dallmann. On December 27, 1948, Peg married William G. Dean in Chandlerville. He preceded her in death on September 3, 1982. She then married Willard G. France in 1984. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Stephen (and Carol) Dean and Scott (and Brenda) Dean, and her daughter, Kathryn (and Bob) Bridges, all of Astoria, two step-daughters, Teresa (and Rick) Blythe of Springfield, IL, and Janine (and Steve) Danner of Astoria, one step-son, Joe (and Tana) France of Astoria, 8 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 6 step-great-grandchildren.
Peg was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Deanna Jo Dean, and two sisters JoAnn Lane and Elizabeth Campbell.
She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Havana, IL and the ACBL Bridge where she was a Life Master, and PEO Chapter Y in Havana.
She was a former President of the Astoria Women's Club, the Astoria Home Extension, and County Board member. She was active on several advisory committees for the Astoria Schools and served as a tutor.
Peg was a 4-H leader for many years and was Cub Scout Den Mother.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Pastor Kevin Wendorf will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 20th from 6-8 pm and again on Saturday, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Astoria Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the St. Paul Lutheran Church or the Astoria Rescue Squad.
