Canton - James M. Reed, 84, of Canton passed away Monday, April 2, 2018, at Farmington Country Manor.
He was born on March 26, 1934, in London Mills to Charles Baker and Blanche Marie Murphy Reed. He married Dixie L. Fidler. She preceded him in death on June 10, 2015, after 62 years of marriage.
His parents; siblings, Charles Burton Reed, Clifford Reed, Mary Briggs, Marilyn Cox and infant twin brothers; and brother-in-law, Don Roberts, also preceded him in death.
He is survived by his children, Pamela Lee (John) Raychel, Rickie James (Robbie) Reed and Mark Louis (Gloria) Reed; 12 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Charlene (Bob) Bollinger, Carol Roberts, Tommy (Rose) Reed and Wayne (Nancy) Reed; sister-in-law, Arlene Reed-Laughary; and many nieces and nephews.
James worked for Caterpillar until retiring in 1992. He was a fantastic cook; he played and taught guitar; he was known for his cowboy hat; and he never knew a stranger. He loved bowling and his pets, but most of all, his family.
Cremation has been accorded and a celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 14th at the Canton VFW from noon until 3 p.m..
Memorials may be made to the Fulton County Human Society in his name.
