John B. "Humpy" DeLost
John B. “Humpy” Delost, 101, of Canton passed away, Tuesday April 24, 2018, at Red Oak Estates in Canton.
He was born on August 17, 1916, in St. David to Thomas and Mary (Zehowski) DeLost.
He married Beatrice I. (Kitchen) on August 7, 1937 in Iowa. She preceded him in death in 1987.
He is survived by his daughter Sheila (John) Priepot, two grandchildren Stacy (Mark) Wheeler and Jennifer (Stacey) Ferguson of Minooka Illinois, six great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Kacey Wheeler, John, Mary and Margaret Auclair and Olivia Ferguson and many niece’s and nephew’s.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Tony and Michael Delost and one sister Mary Jackson
John was a veteran of the United States Navy where he was part of the Seabees in World War II, he worked at International Harvester as a foreman for 41 years retiring in 1976. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton, the Knights of Columbus, Canton American Legion and he was on the board of directors for the former Canton Country Club. John loved to fish and golf, he won the Canton Daily Ledger golf championship in 1968.
A funeral Mass will be held on Monday April 30, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton at 11:00 a.m. visitation will be held one hour prior to the mass at the church.
Burial with Military Honors will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in Canton.
