He was born on November 3, 1960 in Canton to Azell Sam and Herscile (Tyler) Mackey.
He married Julia Pearson. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Jesse A.M. (Sirlene) Hibbs of Canton, Megan N. Zinser of Canton, Stephen M. (Bobbie) Pearson of Dunfermline, brother, Sammy Mackey of Canton, sisters, Lynn (Darin Dorethy) Wirebaugh of Knoxville, Anita (Monroe) Bailey of Canton, grandchildren, Tristyn Danz, Nate Danz, Aaliyah Danz, Shaun Bryan, Edward Lathrop, Kairi Lathrop, Cylus Hobbs, Zsadist Pearson, several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son James D. Danz, three brothers, Kurt Mackey, Paul Mackey, Billy Tyler and two sisters, Betty Mackey and Kelly Mackey.
Joe worked for MSD for several years and later for SC2 in Mapleton. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR and pro wrestling.
Most of all Joe cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Cremation rites have been accorded through Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2026 from 2pm until close at Moore's Pub in Canton. It will be family friendly from 2-5pm and from 5 until close for adults only.
