Todd A. Stambaugh

Todd Andrew Stambaugh, 53, of Astoria, IL, passed away at 8:22 pm at home, surrounded by family, on Saturday, March 5th, 2022, after a 16 month battle with Glioblastoma. He was born on June 28th, 1968 in Rushville, IL, the son of Virgil Lee and Opalene (Trone) Stambaugh. Todd married the love of his life, Kathryn Ann Bemis, on June 2, 1996. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Nick (and Tabitha) Rittenhouse and Joel (and Katie) Rittenhouse, and one daughter, Samantha Stambaugh (and Bryan Pasley), all of Astoria, IL; ten grandchildren, Gabriel Williams, Finnegan Rittenhouse, Oliver Rittenhouse, Breezi Kelly, Autumn Rittenhouse, Hadley Garbett, Braydan Pasley, Jordyn Cozad, Charlie Pasley, and Jaxon Pasley; his mother, Opal Stambaugh of Astoria, one sister, Jody (and Kevin) Kolves of Astoria IL, one brother, Tim (and Shannon) Stambaugh of Bardolph IL, and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Todd was preceded in death by his father Virgil Stambaugh, and his sister Jenny Hendricks, and three great nephews, Dakota, Archer, and Ransom Corrick.

Todd was first and foremost a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend, and a firm follower of Jesus. He was a lifelong member and also a deacon of the Astoria Christian Church. He enjoyed volunteering at Lamoine Christian Camp. Todd was always inclined towards mechanics. He and his friend, Marty Hulett, owned and operated their own business together, H & S Car Care, in 1990-1993. For the last 24 years, he worked with many people that were like his bonus family at what is now Onken’s, Inc.

Working on the Stambaugh farmland was a great joy in his life, but his greatest joy was found in spending time with his family.

An open house memorial will be held at the Astoria Christian Church on Sunday, March 20th, 2022, at approximately 11:00 am, with a celebration of life to be held in June.
