Clarence Albert Smith


Lewistown- Clarence Albert Smith, 72, of Lewistown and formerly of Havana passed away at 9:40 AM Saturday July 20, 2019 at Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born January 17, 1947 at Berlin, IL; the son of James and Hattie (Kinder) Smith. He married Annabelle Morris on September 17, 1967 in Beardstown. She survives along with two daughters, Barbara (James) Otto of Havana and Peggy (Ron) Wardell of Lewistown, five grandchildren, Tiffany Wardell, Elizabeth Otto, Emily Wardell, Courtney Wardell, and David Otto, four brothers, Raymond Smith of San Jose, Herbert (Theresa) Smith of Virden, Kenneth Smith of Jacksonville and William Smith of Virginia, two sisters, Mary Turner of Waverly and Martha Ogle of Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters at infancy, three brothers, Jim, Marvin and Floyd Smith and one sister at infancy.

In his younger years Clarence worked at Crescent Forge and Shovel in Havana for 36 years retiring in 2002. Clarence and Annabelle enjoyed fishing, tractor shows and sitting outside on the bench together, because it was romantic. He loved spending time with his family and friends and he enjoyed playing his guitar. Clarence attended Faith Tabernacle Church in Canton.

A graveside service will be held at 11:15 AM Wednesday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown with Reverend Fred Albanito officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10 until 11 AM at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
