Joseph John Plecki


Canton – Joseph John Plecki, 54, of Canton, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 28, 1964 in Fort Worth, TX to Raymond and Josephine (Fudala) Plecki. He married the love of his life, Laurie Maddox on September 12, 1987 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton. She survives along with their two daughters; Emily Marie and Lindzey Nicole Plecki, both of Canton. Lindzey is expecting their first granddaughter (Penelope) in the fall.

Also surviving are three sisters, Beth Beekman, Debbie (Larry) Wengler, and Fran Hansen; father-in-law, Louis A. Maddox; three brother-in-laws, Mike (Suzie) Maddox, Ken (Diane) Maddox, Jeff Maddox; two sister-in-laws, Julie Moore and Leigh Ann (Kevin) Bonney; a beloved dog, Samantha Raye, and many nieces and nephews.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Mark Plecki.

Joe was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton. He last worked for Spoon River College in maintenance for over 20 years. He was a kind-hearted loving father and husband. He loved spending time with his family, woodworking, and watching the Dallas Cowboys.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton. Father Daniel Ebker will officiate the service. A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services through Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory. Memorials can be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church’s Food Pantry, Illinois Cancer Care, or Fulton County Humane Society.
