He was born in Canton, on September 24, 1968, to his parents, Harry and Erma (Eales) Garner. His father preceded him in death along with his nephew, Jeffrey Craig Wilcoxen.
He is survived by his daughter, Kaylynn Garner of Canton, two sisters, Tamara (Jess) Knight of Washington, and Melinda (Ron) Cloninger of Canton, five nephews, Jason Wilcoxen and Joshua (Kristin) Wilcoxen, Garrett Cloninger all of Canton and Matthew Knight and Joshua (Meghan) Knight of Washington and two nieces, Erin Knight of Peoria and Amy Cloninger of Springfield. He is also survived by great nieces, Jaden and Addison Wilcoxen, Grace Miller, Karagen and Emily Knight, and great nephews, Austin Wilcoxen, Jaxson and Dallas Knight. Troy also had many cousins and second cousins that he enjoyed spending time with.
Troy worked at Art Hossler Auto Plaza in Canton as a service porter. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and deer hunting which he learned at a young age from his father. He enjoyed for many years the annual deer hunting trip with his Dad, nephews, and brother-in-law in Pike County. Troy loved hunting morel mushrooms. He and his sister always had a friendly competition every year as to who would find the first mushrooms of the season. Troy always won. Troy had many artistic talents, such as an eye for photography, a passion for watercolor artwork, and graphite pencil drawings, some of which were exhibited in his high school yearbook.
Troy loved his family and was a good friend to many. He was an especially good father to his daughter. He will be dearly missed.
A funeral service will be held at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the services. Burial will immediately follow at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to an education fund for his daughter, Kaylynn, or to the Association of Horizon, an all-volunteer organization that provides opportunities for adults with physical disabilities.
