Gary Lee Roberts

Gary Lee Roberts, 91, of Fairview, passed away at 1:25 AM on Wednesday, February 28,2024 at Prairie City Rehab in Prairie City, IL. He was born on January 12, 1933 in Industry, IL to Lyman and Marcella (Lawson) Roberts. He married Beverly Ann Powell on October 30, 1954 in Colchester, IL. She preceded him in death.

He is also preceded in death by his parents; two grandkids, Benjamin and Jennie Baker; one great-grandson, Fisher Lee Drinkwater; two brothers, Jimmy and Mike Roberts; and two sisters, Shirley Miller and Mary Jane Brooks.

He is survived by four children, Diana Drinkwater, Jeffrey (Missy) Roberts, Timothy (Martha) Roberts, and Angela Baker; 13 grandkids; 19 great-grandkids; two brothers, David and Rick Roberts.

Gary was an active military member for 22 years. Spending most of his active duty in the Army before retiring then going to work in the coal mines. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam War.He was a member of the Fairview American Legion Post 644 and was a Mason in Fairview, IL. He enjoyed fishing, building wooden clocks, being outdoors, watching John Wayne movies,and loved being at his grandkids sporting activities.

Graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Fairview Cemetery in Fairview, IL. Rev’s. Jeff and Chelsea Lampen will officiate.Cremation rites will be accorded with Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL. will officiate. Memorials may be made to the family.
