He was born August 20, 1943 at Anderson, IN, the son of James and Susan (Zempel) Evans. He married Peggy Krulac on September 6, 2022 at Rushville. She survives with four children, Darcy (Josh) Nelson of Venice, FL; Jim (Leslie) Evans of Lewistown, Tim (Terri) Smith of Waxhaw, NC; and Todd (Stephanie) Smith of Kernersville, NC; seven grandchildren, Chase Evans of Lewistown, Tanner Nelson of Chicago, Duncan Evans of Lewistown, Jake Nelson of Chicago, Madison Smith of Kernersville, NC; Tyler Smith of Kernersville, NC; and Michael (Amy) Utt of Waxhaw, NC; two great grandchildren, Ashlynn and Walker Utt of Waxhaw, NC, and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Rob worked at International Harvester in Canton until the plant closing. He later worked for Lewistown District 97 Schools, and also farmed for many years. He served in the Illinois Air National Guard from 1965-1971, and also served on the Lewistown Fire Department. He loved to hunt, fish, spending time at the Buckbrush, coaching youth leagues and afternoons in the" Man Cave” with his buddies. Most of all he loved being with his family.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am Thursday at Oak Hill Cemetery with his sister in-law Nancy Stiglish officiating. There will be no public visitation. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lewistown Fire and Rescue. Condolences may be made at henrylange.com
