He was born December 23, 1956 at Canton the son of Gale L. and Audrey G. (Edsal) Brooks. He married Margie L. Smith on December 10, 1978 at the Cuba United Methodist Church. She survives along with three children, Marcy Jo (Mathew) Kirkpatrick of Wee-Ma-Tuk, Melissa Lynn (Aaron) Prosser of Pekin, and Jared Michael Brooks of Macomb, four grandchildren, Caileigh, Sawyer, Sven, and Eir, two sisters, Janice (Tony) Birchfield of Ft. Myers, Florida, and Kathy Brooks of Smithfield, and his beloved dog, Jessie. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, David Del Brooks.
Larry was a hog buyer for Cargill for over 30 years, after retiring he worked part time for FS, and Cluver Milk Transport. Margie would tell Larry every time he left for work “watch out for deer, cars, and other things, slick spots, trees, and turkeys”.
Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushrooming, tinkering with mowers and tractors, auctions, spending time with his grandchildren, and talking about his dog Jessie.
Cremation will be accorded. A visitation will be held Saturday March 16, 2024 from 1-3 PM at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude. Online condolences may be made at henrylange.com.
