She was born on December 5, 1938 in Peoria to Jesse and Marjorie (Reed) Mooney. Donna married Edward Burkhead on June 9, 1957 in Fairview. He preceded her in death on November 5, 2019.
Donna was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers; Jack T. Mooney and James A. Mooney.
Surviving are three children; Rick (Julie) Burkhead of Cuba, Brad Burkhead and Jeni Burkhead both of rural Ellisville, six grandchildren; Mandy (Trenton) Mahr, Darrick (Hannah) Burkhead, Guy (Keyla) Burkhead, Jesse (Alyssa) Burkhead, Shayla (Luke) Jensen and Raya (Reece) Mavros, seven great-grandchildren and former daughter-in-law Debbie Burkhead of Thomasville, NC.
Donna was a fulltime homemaker and an active member of the Coal Creek Bible Church, where she loved leading the choir, singing special music, teaching Sunday school and hosting bible studies. Donna loved all things music. She was a member of a singing group, Peace, Joy and Love, that sang at many churches and active at Faith Bible Camp as well as Spoon River Pregnancy Center. Ed, Donna and Jeni volunteered in Brazil and Florida with New Tribes Mission. Services will be 10 am Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be Monday, March 18, 2024 from 5-7 pm. Burial will follow in Coal Creek Cemetery in Rural Fairview. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Faith Bible Camp.
