Sherry Yocum

Sherry L. Yocum, 44, of Canton, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024 at OSF St Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born on July 18, 1979 in Canton.

She married Jeremy Yocum on July 3, 2004 in Canton. He survives.

Also surviving are her parents, Louis (Raquel) Martin of Gastonia, N.C., her mother, Linda (Terry Decker) Martin of Canton, two children, Jordon Yocum and Jacob Yocum.

Sherry was an Industrial Arts teacher for the Cuba High School.

A visitation will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024 from 5-7 at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with a funeral service to follow on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 10am. Burial will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery in Canton.

Memorials may be made to an education fund for her children.

Bruce Kohlmeyer

Bruce Kohlmeyer, 70, of Canton, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at the Graham Hospital Emergency room.

He was born on June 30, 1953 in Peoria to Fred and Doris (Ryskamp) Kohlmeyer.

Surviving is his wife of 50 years Deena (Sepich), two sons, Craig (Quynh) Kohlmeyer of Peoria, Blake (Holly) Kohlmeyer of Ballwin, MO, and a daughter Whitney (Patrick) Ricke of Ballwin, MO, and three precious granddaughters, Avery, Paisley and Isabella.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Alan and one sister, Kathy Reed.

Bruce started working at International Harvester in 1972 and after their closing he returned to Spoon River College. Bruce worked at several different companies but his career found traction when he landed at Daxcon Engineering. He finished his career with Synergetic Industries as Vice-President of Aerospace and Defense sales for Boeing. He was passionate about his work and just recently announced his retirement.

Being in sales, Bruce spent a lot of time on the road, but that never kept him from coaching his kids and attending all their activities. Bruce was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a kind and patient man who had a smile for everyone.

Those of you who knew Bruce best can remember that when he got in an uncomfortable situation he would say…”How Bout Those Cardinals”….

Cremation rites have been accorded through Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 2-5pm at the Back Room @ Billy's Tap.

Gloria Hoehn

Gloria Hoehn, 76, of Springfield, IL, passed away at home March 24, 2024. She was born May 19, 1947 to Carl and Eileen (nee Moody) Ed of Petersburg, IL.


Gloria married Ronald Hoehn at St. Paul Evangelical Free Church in Petersburg, IL in 1990. She ultimately retired from the Illinois Bell Telephone Company in the accounting department, then went on to work for many years as a Medical Transcriptionist at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

Gloria is survived by her loving husband of over 30 years, Ron Hoehn; children, Jennifer (Gary) Newell of Riverton, IL, Jeff (Cassie) Langley of Athens, IL, and Dennis Hoehn of Edwardsville, IL; grandchildren, Brent Langley and Brad Langley of Athens, IL, Garrett (Kristen) Newell of Riverton, IL, Lindsey Hoehn of Roxana, IL; a great-grandchild, Trent Newell; brothers, Mike (Patty) Ed of Key Largo, FL, and Mark (Georgia) Ed of Petersburg, IL; sister-in-law, Marilyn (Bob) Snell of Staunton, IL, several nieces and nephews; and last, but not least, her cat Wylie of Springfield, IL, who provided a special kind of comfort only he could have provided during her brave battle against cancer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Eileen Ed.

Bowling had a special place in her heart as she wore many hats while active in that world. She was inducted in the Bowling Hall of Fame, coached many bowlers, won many tournaments, and was the secretary for several leagues for many years, where she was responsible for tracking team performance, scores, distributing patches, and keeping the many facets of the bowling world organized amongst the league. Gloria enjoyed riding around in their Corvette and were avid members of both the Central Illinois Corvette Club (CICC) and the Cool Cruisers Club. She had a penchant for education and adored academia. She would exercise this belief regularly as she went back to school on multiple occasions, resulting several degrees.

Tifany Lynne Chaudoin

Tifany Lynne Chaudoin, 36, of Oakford, Illinois, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Springfield Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Illinois, with her family by her side. She was born January 26, 1988, in Springfield, to Michael Earl Chaudoin and Dawn Allyn McGregor.


Tifany loved to go fishing. One nickname her family gave her was Dr. Dolittle because she would bring home animals, including a catfish and bluegill, and keep them as pets. She enjoyed doing crafts and enjoyed crocheting blankets and clothes. She was considered a caregiver because she loved to take care of people such as the elderly and children. Her most favorite thing to do was to hang out with Madilynne and her family.

Tifany is survived by her mother, Dawn (Ed Hansen) McGregor; her daughter, Madilynne Powell; two brothers, Zachariah (Chrissy) Chaudoin and Daniel (McKenzie) Sundberg; and a sister, Kayla (Aaron) Villa.

Tifany was preceded in death by her father, Michael Chaudoin; her grandparents, Donald A. and Dana D. (nee Koch) McGregor Sr. and Ralph and Delores (nee Barber) Chaudoin; an aunt, Rena Chaudoin-Pop; two uncles, Del Johnson and Matthew McGregor; and two nieces, Jennifer Johnson and Ashley Zeiler.

Cremation rites were accorded by Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg, Illinois. A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, March 29, 2024, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 pm with Pastor Shane Baker officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to a trust fund set up for Madilyne at the Alliance Community Bank, 321 N. 6th St, Petersburg, Illinois 62675.
