Verna Marie Urish Moore

Verna Marie Urish Moore, of Pekin, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023, at Pekin Manor Memory Care Unit at the age of 101.

Verna was born on April 5, 1922, in Rural Manito, to Louis and Carrie (Nannen) Lussenhop. She married Delbert G. Urish in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, on July 20, 1939. He preceded her in death on December 28, 1982. She later married Hiram Moore. He died in May of 2004.
Verna was a retired postal clerk in Manito for 20 years. She also helped with the family farming operations. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. She also played on her church softball league for many years.
Surviving are her sons: Ben Urish, Jerry Urish and Caralee Bohannan; as well as eleven grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Martha Hilst of Lafayette, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and one son: Don Urish.
Funeral services will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, near Manito, at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, May 11, 2023, with visitation one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow the services at Green Valley Cemetery. Rev. Mark Drewes will officiate.
