Also preceding Steve in death is his step-father, Pete Staten; his step-mother, Ilene M. Byers; his sister, Vickie Kalson Rilea; one brother, John M. Byers Jr; and one nephew, Eddie Kalson Jr.
He is survived by his son, Chad Byers of Canton; his brother, Kevin (Leanne) Byers of Rantoul, IL; his niece, Lori Kalson (Tony) Abel of Keensburg, IL; one nephew, Mark Byers of Alabama; his great- niece, Emily (Eric) Wilson; his great- nephew, Logan Abel; and his great-great-niece, Mabel Kate Wilson.
Steve was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved riding his motorcycle, spending time outdoors, and spending time with his family.
