Peter D. Springs, 59, of Macomb, formerly of Vermont, IL, passed away at 7:45 pm Thursday, May 18th at Macomb Post Acute Care. He was born on January 20, 1964 in Rushville, IL, the son of Howard and Patsy (Umphryes) Springs.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents and uncle, Henry Umphryes.
He is survived by his six aunts, Nancy Hayes, Susan Jackson and Donna Raudabaugh, all of Vermont, IL, Lona Jo (and Bill) Wagner of Belleville, IL, Rosie (and Gary) Wece of Murphysboro, IL and Betsy Umphryes of Centralia, IL, and two Uncles, Richard Umphryes of Caseyville, IL and Jon Umphryes of Vermont, IL.
Peter participated in the Special Olympics for several years. He was a fan of hats of all colors and was a St. Louis Cardinal fan. His hobby was spinning fishing line and it had to be a certain weight and material, not just any kind.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 26th at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Astoria, IL. Pastor Matthew Thiner will officiate. Memorials may be made in Peter’s memory to the Epileptic Foundation. There is will be no visitation. Shawgo Memorial Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
