He was born on September 21, 1937 to Harry and Hazel (Cattron) Shellcrosslee.
He married Darlene Hartline in 1958. She survives.
Also surviving is his son Gary (Colleen) Shellcrosslee of Fort Worth Texas, two grandchildren Joseph “J.C.” Shellcrosslee of Fort Worth Texas and Lindsey (Anthony) Francisco of Palm Bay, Florida. His parents and a twin brother and sister, John and Mary Jane preceded him in death.
Gary was raised in Fairview and graduated from Valley High School in Fairview in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1961. Gary was a member of the Fairview American Legion and Fairview Reformed Church. He worked for Canton Autobody and then Freeman Coal Company in Banner, Buckheart and Industry mines. Later he worked in the Engineering Office in Canton retiring in 1991 with 30 years of service.
Gary was a man who could fix anything and who would help anyone. He loved antiques, vintage cars and attending car shows and auctions.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a visitation will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton from 10 am until noon. A graveside service with a burial of ashes will follow at the White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.
Memorials may be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital.
