Joseph C. Simpson

Joseph C. Simpson, 85, also known to others as “Jay” or “JC”, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, May 5, 2023, at his home in Tallula, Illinois. His children, grandkids and great grandkids were around his bedside.

Joseph worked most of his life as a General Contractor until he retired in 1996 due to medical issues. He was a member of the First Church of God in Springfield, Illinois, since 1973. He was also a brief member of the Tallula Christian Church until his health permanently hindered him from attending. Joseph was a man of faith and loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Peggy, of 45 years until her death in August of 2003; a son, Joseph “Jr” who passed in December of 1975 at the age of 12; his mother and father; his brother; and his sisters.

Surviving him are his children, Kimberley (Frank, who is deceased) Nation of Tallula; Glen E. “Herk” (Marsha) Simpson of Garfield, Kentucky; Lori (Marcus) Jones of LaSalle, Illinois; Carrie (James, who is deceased) Simpson-Lynom of Tallula; Jennifer (Craig) Campbell of Athens, Illinois; John Woodin Simpson of Ottowa, Illinois; Sara Woodin-Vacca of Streator, Illinois; nine grandchildren; and twenty great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on May 20, 2023, at 1 p.m. at the First Church of God, 2800 Adlai Stevenson Dr, Springfield, Illinois 62703, for anyone who would like to come and remember Joseph.
