Elizabeth Mae Hagney, 92, of Havana passed away at 10:45 a.m. on Monday, May 22, 2023 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born on September 17, 1930 in Greenview, Illinois to James and Octavia (Canada) Squires. She married Floyd Hagney on December 5, 1981 in Havana and he preceded her in death on May 11, 2021.Mae is survived by her children, Steve (Cindy) Bonnett of Pilaski, Tennessee, Rick (Leann) Bonnett of Havana, Melody (Brad) Lynn of Easton, and Gary (John Szafirowski) Hagney of San Diego, California; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, David, sister Helen Sommers, and baby brother, John Robert Squires.
Mae loved her flowers in the spring, loved cooking for her family and especially loved all her grandchildren. She was so proud of them. She was a longtime member of the 1st United Methodist Church of Havana and served in several committees over the years.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the 1st United Methodist Church in Havana, with a visitation one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Rev. Carol Stufflebeam will officiate. Burial will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made in Mae’s name to the 1st United Methodist Church in Havana. Online condolences can be left for her family at www.hurleyfh.com.
