Thomas Stell
Astoria-Thomas B. Stell, 57, of Astoria, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at his residence.
He was born on September 28, 1959 in Aurora to Michael and Norma (Bowman) Stell.
He married Tonya Derry on October 8, 1977, in Astoria. She survives.
Also surviving is his mother of Ripley, his children, Kizzie (Norm) Gorsuch, Keesha (Nathan Abernathy) Stell and Bocephus (Madison Bucher) Stell all of Astoria, one brother Pat (Patty) Bowman of Ripley, two sisters, Dottie (Monte) Maxwell of Beardstown, Melanie (Danny) Martin of Springfield, seven grandchildren, Briar and Tommi Jo Gorsuch, Sophia and Ariel Stell, Makenna and Emaleigh Abernathy and Jagger Stell and his mother-in-law, Linda Derry.
He was preceded in death by his father, one brother Michael Bowman, one sister, Pamela Pineta, and his father-in-law and friend, Jim Derry.
Tom worked for Freeman United Coal Company and later was a pipefitter and welder for the Local #125.
First and foremost Tom was a loving, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a skilled fabricator. He was a talented artist as well as enjoying the outdoors including, hunting fishing, four wheeling and guns.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017, at 5 pm, at the Astoria Christian Church where the family will receive friends from 3-5 pm. A dinner will be served at the church following the service.
Cremation rites have been accorded per his wishes.
Memorials may be made to the Astoria School District.
Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton is charge of arrangements.
