Carolyn Jean Wilcoxen
Largo, FL -- Carolyn Jean Wilcoxen, 74, of Largo, formerly of Canton, IL, passed away at 2:15 a.m. on Monday, April 10, 2017, at Largo Medical Center after fighting a courageous battle against cancer for eight months.
She was born on April 10, 1943, in Canton to Carl and Carla (Schwartz) Burrows. She married Joseph Kelly Wilcoxen MD on July 3, 1966 in Canton, and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last summer taking an extended motor trip along the east coast visiting family and friends.
Also surviving are two children, Kelli Robyn Wilcoxen of New York, NY, and Jason Kory Wilcoxen of Largo, FL, as well as one brother, Larry (Pamela Jean) Burrows of Shalimar, FL, two nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother who helped raise her, LaVone (Lindsey) Burrows, and one sister, Carol Ann Burrows.
Carolyn was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the National Society of the United States Daughters of 1812, and was a past member of the South Park United Methodist Church in Canton
Over the years Carolyn enjoyed volunteering, traveling, camping, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, owl collectibles, music, movies, news magazines and television.
Known for her quick smile, Carolyn was a strong and compassionate woman, loving wife, wonderful mother and gracious to everyone around her.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Glenn Nestlerode will officiate.
Burial will follow in Salem-Wilcoxen Cemetery, Bryant, IL, with a lunch for all family and friends at 1:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church, Canton.
Memorial Services were held on Saturday, April 15, 2017, in the Chapel at Anona United Methodist Church, Largo, FL.
