Canton – Norman C. Meyer, 93 of Canton passed away at 3:40 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017, at Graham Hospital in Canton. He was born November 17, 1923, in Milwaukee, WI to John and Minnie (Keading) Meyer. He married Mary Anne Allen on June 19, 1948, in Champaign. She preceded him in death on October 29, 2014.
He is survived by his grandson, Kenneth C. Meyer of Canton and one brother-in-law, Bob Allen of Burr Ridge.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Marilyn Alice Meyer.
Norman was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the 97th Division MP Platoon. He graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign, where he was a member of the Delta Sigma Pi Fraternity. He retired from International Harvester in Canton where he had worked as a production engineer and later as the plant manager. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Canton, where he had served as Elder and Clerk of the Session.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service celebrating Norman’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at the First Presbyterian Church of Canton, with Rev. Tim Bauler officiating.
Burial, with military honors, will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton.
