She was born February 27, 1923 in Canton the daughter of Harry and Mildred L. (Hollandsworth) Waddell. She married Dennis S. Lynn Sr. on February 14, 1973. He died July 2, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister, and one grandchild. Surviving are one daughter, Judith Redemer of Atlanta, IL; two sons, Donald DeFord of Canton and Robert DeFord Jr. of Tuscon, AZ; two step sons, Robert Lynn and Dennis (Linda) Lynn Jr. both of Springfield, two sisters, Margaret Hankins of Peoria and Sandra Hasse of Riverbank, CA; three grandchildren, four step grandchildren, and numerous great and great great grandchildren.
Bette was an Illinois Licensed Independent Insurance Agent. She owned and operated “Spoon River Insurance Agency”. Bette was a member of the Lewistown United Methodist Church for over 66 years where she was an administrative board member and Sunday school teacher. She was also active in the Ruth & Naomi Circle, Covenant & Bible study groups. She was an original charter member of the Ruth Circle September 1956. Bette was involved in numerous civic groups for many years.
Cremation will be accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday April 19th at the Lewistown United Methodist Church with Reverend Deryck Sonaram officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service at the church. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown is assisting the family with arrangements.
