Steven D. Roos

Steven D. Roos, 64, of Havana, passed away at Mason District Hospital at 1:45 a.m., on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. He was born July 31, 1960, in Havana, to Herbert “Laddie” and Emilie (Hackman) Roos. He married Janet Lynn on September 5, 1981, in Havana. She preceded him in death on January 18, 2003. He later married Nicole Quiggle on April 1, 2005, in Las Vegas, Nevada.


Mr. Roos is survived by his parents, of Havana; wife, Nicole, of Havana; one son, Nathan (Noelle) Roos, of Havana; daughter, Caitlyn (Kyle) Stroub, of DeKalb, Illinois; step-daughter: Marybeth (Dylan) Koester, of Macomb; two grandchildren: Harper and Nora, with one more grand baby on the way. Also surviving are two sisters: Susan (Mike) Ellsworth, of Havana, Julie (Dean) Krause, of Easton; and one brother: David (Sheryl) Roos, of Havana; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and wife, Janet.

Mr. Roos was a lifelong farmer, most recently retired from farming with his father and brother. He loved camping, hunting, and getting together with family and friends. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Havana. He never met a stranger and had a strong faith in the Lord. He was known to have a kind soul and a big heart.

Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home, in Havana, on Sunday, November 17, 2024, from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, in Havana, at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, November 18, 2024. Burial will follow the services at Laurel Hill Cemetery, in Havana. Rev. Ian Heinze will officiate.
