Dwight Thompson Jr., 77, of Havana, passed away at his home at 2:45 p.m., on Saturday, November 2, 2024. He was born June 8, 1947, in Havana, to Dwight and Elsie (Davis) Thompson Sr.
Mr. Thompson is survived by Debbie Thompson, his wife of forty-nine years; daughter, Lisa Shore, of Havana; step-son, James Edward Gilbert, of Havana; five grandchildren: Samantha Shore, Regan and Roxanne Atchley, Timber and River Gilbert; as well as four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings: Bob Thompson and Leighann Compton, both of Havana. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: JoAnn Barrett and Elana Seeley.
Mr. Thompson served in the US Army and was a member of VFW Post #6408, in Havana. He worked in construction as a Master Carpenter, Millwright and Welder through Carpenters Local #644 in Pekin. He had also worked for Caterpillar Inc., in East Peoria. He enjoyed working outdoors. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Cremation rites have been accorded and no public services are planned at this time.
