Jerry W. Simmons, 82, of Brimfield, a longtime amateur radio operator with the call sign “W1JWS”, a.k.a “WB9UDB”, is now a Silent Key. He passed away at 5:09 p.m., on Friday, November 8, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Jerry was born February 9, 1942, in Peoria, IL, to Charlie and Annabelle (Stewart) Simmons. He married Kathleen “Katy” Waldman on October 19, 1985, in Peoria. She survives.
Jerry is also survived by six children, Susette (Ramie) Poe of Texas, Lynn (Jim) Lillie of Chatham, IL, Jerry (Renee) Simmons, Jr., of Arizona, Glenda (Christopher) Lowery of East Peoria, IL, Elizabeth Simmons of Eureka, and Amanda Simmons of Peoria; eleven grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Eugene Simmons, Charles Simmons, and Almas “Bud” Simmons; and one sister, Margie Roloff.
Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no services at this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to O.S.F. Hospice.
