Richard was born March 19, 1955, in Monmouth, IL, to Elwyn and Alice (Kinsey) Bower.
Richard married Karen Rickey on October 15, 1976, at the United Methodist Church in Roseville. She survives.
Richard is also survived by two children, Michael Bower of Brimfield, and Mindy (Justin) Lipes of Keokuk, IA; four brothers, Robert (Cindy) Bower, Ronald Bower, Randy (Selena) Young, and Shane (Cindy) Young; one sister, Linda Wesley; three grandchildren, Parker, Paisley, and Paxton; and many nieces and nephews. He had many friends that he loved to hang out who were also an awesome support system.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents; and infant daughter, Michelle Bower.
Richard had a few nicknames through the years, “Bristles”, “Bowey”, and “Ricky”. Richard was a former President of the Jaycee’s in Brimfield. Over the years, Rick enjoyed coaching his son’s baseball team, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and restoring his ’73 Cuda. Rick spent many years working at Jim’s IGA in Roseville and Brimfield, and most recently owned his own Construction Company. Rick never met a stranger and always made you smile with his jokes and humor.
