He is also survived by three children, William D. Spencer, Douglas (Debbie) Spencer and Mary Alexander all of Canton; six grandchildren, Ella Alexander, Chloe Alexander, Josh Ogden, Amanda Putney, Edward Putney, and Jessica Donelson; five great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Mike Spencer.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Zachary Ryan, and two brothers, Bud Spencer and Glen Spencer.
William was a welder at International Harvester and Navistar in Indianapolis. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed gardening, car shows, making live nativity scenes at South Park United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Canton Photo Club, Gear Jammers and Hudson Essex Terraplane Club. He volunteered for the Harvester Fire Department and enjoyed hosting the turkey supper. He was also an Election judge.
Memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, July 19, 2024 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL. A visitation will be held the same day from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM. Pastor Matt Oost will officiate. Burial will follow service at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded through Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL.
