Anna Marie Meyer, 90, of Manito, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 6:09 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at the Lodge in Manito. Born on January 25, 1934 in Pekin, Illinois to Henry and Irene (Galvin) Osterman, Anna, known affectionately as "Grannie Annie" to her beloved family and as Ann to her many friends, was a beacon of love, faith, and warmth to all who knew her. On January 30, 1960, Anna married the love of her life, Deacon William E. Meyer, embarking on a beautiful journey that would span over six decades. Together, they built a loving family and a home filled with laughter, faith, and the irresistible aroma of freshly baked cookies. Grannie Annie's love knew no bounds. She is survived by her devoted husband, Deacon William E. Meyer of Manito; her seven children: Fidelis (Tina) Meyer, Mary (Donald) Hermes, Patricia (Larrie) Meyer-Hedrick, Bernard Meyer, Matt (Tami) Meyer, and Mark (Shelly) Meyer, all of Manito, and John (Kimberly) Meyer of Rushville, Illinois. Her legacy of love extends to 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She is also survived by her siblings, Mary (Jack) Thomason of Manito and Lil Shaw of Okeechobee, Florida. A pillar of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Manito, Anna's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She dedicated herself to serving her church community through the Cursillo and Prison Ministries, as well as the Altar and Rosary Society. Her commitment to her faith was evident in every aspect of her life, from her volunteer work to the way she raised her family. Anna's kitchen was the heart of her home, always warm and inviting. Her chocolate chip cookies were legendary, and the cookie jar was never empty – a testament to her generous spirit and her belief that love could be shown through a batch of homemade treats. Many will fondly remember gathering around her table, sharing stories and savoring her delicious home-cooked meals. In her younger years, Anna was quite the athlete, playing softball for the Pekin Lettes and Dairyettes. She brought the same passion and dedication to her sports as she did to every aspect of her life. Anna was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Katie Wiebler and Sherry Roberts, and brothers Jimmy, Terry, and Bud Osterman. While they are no longer with us, their memories lived on in the stories she loved to share with her family. A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., with rosary at 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., also at the church, with a second visitation one hour prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Fr. Sixmund Henry and Deacon Bob Sondag will officiate. Burial will follow the service at St. Frederick's Catholic Cemetery in Manito. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Anna's name to Immaculate Conception Building Fund. Online condolences can be left for her family at www.hurleyfh.com.
Maas-Hurley Funeral Home in Manito is in charge of arrangements. Anna Marie Meyer, beloved Grannie Annie to her family and dear Ann to her friends, will be deeply missed. Her legacy of love, faith, and delicious cookies will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Anna passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on July 10, 2024 - a date that held special significance as it was also her late sister Sherry's birthday. In a touching coincidence, Anna joined her sister in eternal rest on this meaningful day. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the warmth of God's love, just as she surrounded her family with hers throughout her life.
