Richard Lynch

Richard “Dick” E. Lynch, 86, of Canton, passed away at 7 am on July 11, 2024 at Red Oak Estates in Canton. He was born on September 25, 1937 in Milwaukee, WI to Thomas E. and Doris (Fraikes) Lynch. Dick married Scheralyn Duffield on April 21, 1962 at First Baptist Church in Canton. She preceded him in death on January 19, 2010. Also preceding him in death were his parents and sister Susan B. Lynch of Phoenix, AZ. Surviving is his son Robin Lynch of Carmel, IN, sister June (late Kenneth) Bath of Canton and two nephews; Tom (Sheila) Bath of Denver, CO and Jack “Jay” (Christine Kruse) Bath of Strassburg, CO.

As a young boy Dick had a Canton Daily Ledger paper route along West Walnut, Park Court and Mulberry Place. He was a 1955 graduate of Canton High School and attended Bowling Green State University on a baseball scholarship. He was a veteran of the United States Marines from November 28, 1956 to August 4, 1959. Dick was employed by Household Finance in Waukegan, IL and later by Caterpillar Tractor Company for 33 years. He worked with Junior Achievement program, was a member of Morning Star Lodge 734 for 30 years, Scottish Rite Valley of Peoria, Mohammed Temple Shrine in Peoria, liked to fish and watch sports had a fantastic memory for details and history.

Services will be 11 am Monday, July15, 2024 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be Sunday, July 14, 2024 from 3-5 pm. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Canton. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
