Peggy J. Lascelles, 80, of Ipava, Illinois passed away at 4:32 a.m. on Friday, July 5, 2024 at Courtyard Estates of Bushnell. She was born on December 15, 1943 in Kilbourne, Illinois to Sylvester “Dutch” and Delores (Holmes) Dye. She married Kenneth Lascelles on August 31, 1961 in Havana and he survives.
Peggy is also survived by her children, Bob (Ann) Lascelles and John (Kris) Lascelles, all of Ipava; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Marla (Vernon) Lascelles of Havana; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Brenda Lee; and brothers, Dennis Dye, Ricky Dye, and Tony Dye.Peggy was a member of the Havana Central Christian Church. She worked as a custodian for 10 years for VIT School District. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family, and was well-known for her lasagna, German chocolate cake, and oatmeal raisin cookies. Her lifelong dedication was taking care of her kids and grandkids and being a farm wife. She was a quiet lady with the best smile, a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh. She was loved dearly by her family.
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., also at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Rev. Jim Lascelles will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana.
Memorial donations may be made in Peggy’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Online condolences can be left for her family at www.hurleyfh.com.
