Donald Ray Griffin

Donald Ray Griffin, 88, of Easton, passed away at his home at 5:25 a.m., on Sunday, October 1, 2023. He was born November 1, 1934, in Pekin, Illinois, to Stanley and Dorothy (Melton) Griffin. He married Ethel Kay Krohn, on January 29, 1955, at Sand Prairie Lutheran Church, near Green Valley. She survives.

Mr. Griffin is survived by his wife, Kay, of Easton; two children: Jody D. (Mike) Hogan, of Chatham, Illinois, and Michael S. (Valerie) Griffin, of South Pekin, Illinois; two grandchildren: Travis (Brittany) Hogan, of Girard, Illinois, and Eric Griffin, of Pekin, Illinois; as well as one great-grandson, Henry Hogan. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister: Phyllis (Willard) Birkmeier.

Mr. Griffin was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, in Havana. He farmed his whole life as well as working as a janitor in the Havana School District for nineteen years. He was a member of Mason County Pork Producers. He had been a 4-H Leader in Iowa, and was active on the Delaware County Fair Board, in Iowa. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan. He also served in the US Army.

Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home, in Havana, on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will be held at Green Valley Cemetery, at Noon. Rev. Brian Lesemann will officiate.
