Dana L. Bauman

Canton - Dana L. Bauman, 64, of Canton, peacefully passed away on October 11, 2023, at his home with his son by his side after his strong battle with Small Cell Neuroendocrine Cancer. He was born on January 6, 1959 in Canton, IL, the son of Willard Bauman and Susan Clarke Beason (both deceased). He will be lovingly remembered by his son Justin Bauman (Stacy and granddaughter Tatum) along with his sisters Deana (Dennis) Dickerson, Darci (Reed) Overfelt, Donna (Steve) Allen, brother David Bauman (Daryll Smith) as well nieces and nephews.

Dana was a lifetime Canton resident marrying Jean (King) Burkhead in 1980 (divorcing in 1991), remaining close friends. He became an ASE certified auto technician (Spoon River College) after graduating Canton High School in 1977. He passionately served the Canton community for all of their automotive needs at Coker’s Auto Clinic, Guy Coleman Pontiac Buick GMC and most recently KB Auto. In his free time he loved working on his 1975 Chevy V8 Vega, taking his dog Prince for car rides, watching any type of dirt racing, as well as college basketball and football. Dirt racing and cars were his love.

His son, would like to thank Dr. Craig Higgs, Illinois Cancer Care, Northwestern Medical Center, Mayo Clinic and OSF Hospice for their tireless dedication in treating his father.

Per Dana’s wishes, there will be no services, cremation rites will be accorded through Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton.

Memorials may be made to a Education Fund for his granddaughter, Tatum, C/O Ipava State Bank. Please send cards and letters to the funeral home, 1601 E. Chestnut, Canton, IL 61520.
