Edward G. Lightle
Edward G. Lightle, 82, of Bryant, IL passed away at 11:50 AM on Monday, February 27, 2017 at Unity Point Health Proctor Emergency Room in Peoria. He was born on January 1, 1935 in Canton, a son of Everett and Connie (Cook) Lightle. He married Mildred “Lucy” Hamilton on July 4, 1955 in Bryant, IL, she survives.
Also surviving are two children; Sheree (Tom) Schmitz of Minnesota, Gary (Paula) Lightle of St. David; four grandchildren, Rod, Julie, Wendy, and Joe; four great-grandchildren, Austin, Autumn, Ethan and Eli; one great-great-granddaughter, Lily; two brothers, Allan (Linda) Lightle, of Peoria; Shelby (Norma) Lightle of Lostant, and one sister, Pat (Milton) Ketcham of Canton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Edward worked as an inspector at East Peoria Caterpillar for many years, before retiring to enjoy his hobbies of fishing and woodworking, he was an avid Chicago Cubs Fan. He was a member of Bryant United Methodist Church, and retired volunteer fire chief of the Bryant Fire Department. Edward was proud to serve his country as a United States Navy Veteran, and served inactive reserves for 20 years.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 3, 2017 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1995 North Main, Canton, where visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the services. Rev. Walter Carlson will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded after the services. Memorials can be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital.
