Marie Shumaker

Canton – Marie A. Shumaker, 89, of Canton passed away at 4:57 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Renaissance Care Center in Canton.
She was born October 22, 1927, in Martin County, MN to Lester and Esther M. (Finke) Williamson. She married Marshall H. Shumaker on October 7, 1950, in Canton. He survives.
Also surviving are two children, Kathryn Barrick of Kenosha, WI and Wayne (Cynthia) Shumaker of South Elgin, IL; four grandchildren, Renee (John) Zook, Kyle Barrick, and Megan and Evan Shumaker; and three great-grandchildren, Ian, Lyndon, and Everett.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Donald and Richard Williamson.
Marie took great pride being a homemaker for her family and was a skilled seamstress. Later she worked for 17 years in the kitchen at Canton USD #66, retiring in 1990. She was a past volunteer at Clayberg Nursing Home in Cuba and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Canton, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2017, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 2-4 p.m. Burial will be at Wiley Cemetery in rural Ellisville.
Memorials may be made to the Canton First Church of the Nazarene.
