Roberta Graham Orwig

Canton- Roberta Jane Graham Orwig, 91, a resident of Canton, died February, 26, 2017.
Roberta Jane McKown was born August 15, 1925 to Herschel Clement and Vivian Agnus McKown in Keithsburg, IL.  Roberta was the middle child, with two brothers – Donald (Ruth) McKown and Dwaine (Merle) McKown.  She graduated from high school in Abingdon, Illinois in 1943.
Roberta attended nursing school at Methodist Hospital in Peoria, IL, graduating with a R.N. degree in 1947.  Roberta and Willis Ralph Graham were married on February 18, 1950.  They farmed near Ipava, IL, until moving to Canton, IL, in 1958.
In January 1970, Roberta took a nursing job in the Physical Therapy Department at Graham Hospital in Canton and worked there until retiring in 1987.  She later returned to work part-time in the oncology department at Graham Hospital from 1990-1997.
Roberta married Sheldon Wayne Orwig in November 1996.  They lived near Wee-Ma-Tuk and later in Canton.  Roberta was a member of the Canton First Presbyterian Church.
On the Graham side, Roberta was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, son Craig Graham, daughter Carol Franklin, grandson Jonathan Franklin, and husband Willis Graham.  Survivors include son Steven (Cheri) Graham, Manhattan, KS; son Mark (Candie) Graham, Morton, IL; daughter Ketra (Dennis) Mayer, St. Peters, MO; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On the Orwig side, Roberta was preceded in death by her husband Sheldon.  Survivors include stepson Tom (Maria) Orwig, Canton, IL; stepdaughter Debbie Emery, Canton, IL; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Per her wishes cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 11 am, on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church in Canton with a visitation one hour prior at the church.  Burial of the ashes will take place at the Ipava Cemetery at a later date.  Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton is in charge of arrangements.
