Canton – Thomas “Tom” I. Gilson, 80, of Canton passed away March 15, 2017 at his residence. He was born on July 14, 1936 in Waterford IL to Cecil and Leah (Showens) Gilson.
He married Doris (Vaughn) Gilson on August 20, 1955 in Waterford IL. She survives.
Also surviving is one son Richard (Carol) Gilson of, Chandler Arizona, one brother Cecil (Elnora) Gilson Jr. of Havana Il, one sister Vera Mae (Ralph) Savill of Canton, one sister in-law Betty Maccanelli of Farmington, and five grandchildren Matthew Gilson, Katie Meyers, Dustin Brewer, Christy Brewer, and Jessica Brewer.
Preceding him in death are his parents, one son Ronald Gilson, and one sister Barbara Jean (Ernway) Bell.
Tom managed Abel Vault and Monument in Canton for 43 years retiring in 2000, and he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Air Force.
Graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Waterford Cemetery in Waterford IL, with a visitation from 9:30 am – 10:30 am, at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton.
Memorials may be made to the Peoria Rescue Mission.
