Virginia Timmons

Virginia M. Timmons, 93, of Canton, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Red Oak Memory Care in Canton.

She was born on October 3, 1931 in Springfield, IL to Louis and Louise (Fagar) Kuder.

She married Edward Timmons on September 1, 1051. He preceded her in death on November 23, 2014.

Surviving is her son, Gerald (Joan) Timmons of Texas, one grandson, Michael Timmons, one sister, Vera Wright, sister-in-law, Joan Anderson, friend, Jane Hinderliter and many nieces and nephews.

Also preceding her in death are three sisters.

Virginia was a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton.

Cremation rites will be accorded through Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton with a graveside service on Monday, December 2, 2024 at 10am at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all the staff at Red Oak.

David E. Vandermeer

David E. Vandermeer, 90, of Canton, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born in Canton on January 26, 1934, to Francis David and Imogene (Welch) Vandermeer. They preceded him in death as well as one sister, Meryde Powell, and one grandson, William “Billy” Vandermeer

He married Phyllis (McClure) Vandermeer on June 12, 1955. She preceded him in death on October 12, 2018.

David is survived by three children, Davinda “Holly” (Kevin) Brown of Normal Illinois, David Weldon (the late Linda) Vandermeer Sr. of Fairview Illinois, and Jordan Daniel (Kathi) Vandermeer of Canton Illinois, four grandchildren, David W. (Vanessa) Jr., Rebekah (Brandon), Aaron (Amy), and Amanda, and five great grandchildren.

David worked at International Harvester for 33 years retiring in 1988. He later worked at Nelson’s Manufacturing, and as a Canton Park District Ranger. He is a 55-year member of the Fin and Feather Club in Fairview. He was past president and Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop #116, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Canton. David was a veteran of the Air National Guard he served for 6 years.

A visitation will be held at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2024. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2024.

Burial will immediately follow the funeral at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton.

Memorials may be made to Fulton County Humane Society.

Michael L. Duckwiler

Summum- Michael L. Duckwiler, 67, of Summum passed away on Thursday November 21, 2024 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.


He was born April 27, 1957 at Canton the son of Albert L. and Edith L. (Peters) Duckwiler. He married Debra A. Brooks on June 10, 1978 at Havana. She survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Mary (Virgil) McGinnis of Anderson Lake, one son, Craig (Jaime) Grove of Lewistown, two brothers, Steven (MariAnn Sealock) Duckwiler of Ipava, and Daniel L. (Lisa M.) Duckwiler of Havana, three sisters, Sara (Dwight) Allen of Havana, Brenda (Kirk) Thompson of Good Hope, and Sheila (Reggie Vaughn) White of Canton, seven grandchildren, Zachary (Morgan) Mibbs of Havana, Chelsea (James) Thomas of Anderson Lake, James Grove, Makayla Grove, Odessa Grove, Aleah Grove, and Brennan Grove, all of Lewistown, bonus grandchildren, Alice Ann Westlake, Heidi Pemberton, and Destiny Hough, six great grandchildren, Brooklynn Whitmore, Kile Thomas, Jaime Mibbs, Charlotte Thomas, Willow Mibbs, and Hannah Vaughn, and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Alvin Duckwiler, and Raymond Doug Duckwiler, one sister, Lucinda Vaughn, one niece, Kaila Duckwiler, a great niece, Xena (Bowman) Hoerr, a brother-in-law, Russell White, a sister-in-law, Anita Duckwiler.


Michael was a jack of all trades. He worked at National Standard in Havana for over 20 years, he also worked at Wilder Farms and then for Spoon River Blacktop. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Astoria Fire Department for many years. Michael was a member of the Summum Christian Church. He enjoyed horses, fishing, spending time with family, and working on trucks.


Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday November 26th at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Rebecca Rankins officiating. Burial will be at Summum Cemetery in Summum. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Monday November 25th at the memorial home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude, or to Henry-Lange Memorial Home to assist the family with final expenses. John H. Stambaugh

John H. Stambaugh, 71, of Bader, IL, passed away at 11:16 pm on Friday, November 22, 2024 at his home. He was born on July 21, 1953 in Astoria, the son of Willard and Mary (Kennison) Stambaugh.


John is survived by his significant other, Brenda Powell of Bader, three sons; Jason Stambaugh of Astoria, Joshua Stambaugh of Rushville, IL, and Matthew (and Kayla McCombs) Stambaugh of Astoria, one granddaughter; Josie Stambaugh, two step-granddaughters; Mariah DeFord and Brinlee Zeisler, one step-great-granddaughter; Tatum Anderson, one brother; Jack (and Lily) Stambaugh of Bader, and one sister; Patricia (and Mark) Lund of Astoria.

John is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters; Mary, Joyce and Samantha, and three brothers; Carroll, Jimmy and Arthur “Bud”.

John was a carpenter and worked with his brothers, Stambaugh Brothers Construction. He was also a skilled mechanic, working for Curly’s Auto Repair in Astoria for several years.

From working on them to going to car shows, John loved old cars. He also loved fishing. John loved his family, spending time with his granddaughter and was loved by many.

A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 in the South Fulton Cemetery in Astoria. Pastor Matt Haberman will officiate. A visitation will take place from 12 noon to 1 pm on Tuesday, November 26 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Memorials may be made to the family.

Gary Vernon Keller

Gary Vernon Keller, 69, of Canton, passed away at 1:05 PM on Friday, November 22, 2024 at his home. He was born on July 23, 1955 in Mankato, MN, to Vernon and Irene (Kremer) Keller.


He is survived by five siblings, Michael (Jodi) Keller, Patti (the late Laddie) Mccomb, Vern (Andrea) Keller, Jim (Patty) Keller, and Laurie (Kevin) Wright; several nieces and nephews.


He is preceded in death by his parents and his two beloved dogs.


Gary was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton, IL. He umpired for many years. He also enjoyed going to the library and the YMCA.


A private burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in Canton, IL at a later date. Cremation rites will be accorded through Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL. Richard "Rick" M. Bower

Richard “Rick” M. Bower, 69, of Brimfield, passed away at 12:25 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Carle Health Methodist in Peoria, IL, surrounded by his loving family.

Richard was born March 19, 1955, in Monmouth, IL, to Elwyn and Alice (Kinsey) Bower.

Richard married Karen Rickey on October 15, 1976, at the United Methodist Church in Roseville. She survives.

Richard is also survived by two children, Michael Bower of Brimfield, and Mindy (Justin) Lipes of Keokuk, IA; four brothers, Robert (Cindy) Bower, Ronald Bower, Randy (Selena) Young, and Shane (Cindy) Young; one sister, Linda Wesley; three grandchildren, Parker, Paisley, and Paxton; and many nieces and nephews. He had many friends that he loved to hang out who were also an awesome support system.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents; and infant daughter, Michelle Bower.

Richard had a few nicknames through the years, “Bristles”, “Bowey”, and “Ricky”. Richard was a former President of the Jaycee’s in Brimfield. Over the years, Rick enjoyed coaching his son’s baseball team, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and restoring his ’73 Cuda. Rick spent many years working at Jim’s IGA in Roseville and Brimfield, and most recently owned his own Construction Company. Rick never met a stranger and always made you smile with his jokes and humor.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., on Friday, November 29, 2024, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Elmwood. Cremation rites will then be accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Judith Ann Blakley

Judith Ann Blakley (Martin) of Smithfield, passed away at 11:47 pm Thursday November 21, 2024 at Graham Hospital.


Judith was born December 1, 1943 in Savannah, Georgia to Charles and Vera (Wilson) Martin of Smithfield.


Judi was a graduate of Cuba High School and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Western Illinois University. She was a member of Brock united Methodist Church in Smithfield.


Judi taught 2nd, 4th and 3rd grades at Central Elementary School and Westview Elementary School in Canton, retiring in 1994 after 24 years of teaching.


Throughout her teenage years, Judi studied piano. She loved spending time playing the piano, rearranging songs, crocheting, trying new recipes, playing with her cats and talking about her grandsons. Judi had a green thumb and enjoyed seeing her plants thrive.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Vera Martin, a son, Christopher, and her husband Glenn Blakley.


Judi is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Dante) Mably of Burbank, CA; grandsons, Timothy Mably of Austin, TX; Joshua Mably of West Mifflin, PA; brothers, Michael Martin of Canton, Charles William Martin (Oksana) of Alabama, niece Anya Martin of Canton and Brandon Martin of Farmington.


Her funeral service will be held at 10 am Wednesday November 27, 2024 at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba where visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Baughman Cemetery, Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the Fulton County Humane Society. Patsy Ann Swank

Patsy Ann Swank, 80, of Canton, passed away, Wednesday November 21, 2024, at Renaissance Care Center in Canton.

She was born in Canton on July 24, 1944, to Howard R and Isabel (Smith) Breese. They preceded her in death as well as two brothers, Russell E “Pops” Breese, Bill Grant Breese, one sister, Nancy K. Terry, and a daughter Stephanie Lea Williamson.

Patsy is survived by three children, Stacy Lynn (Rodney) Beck, Dana Louise (Paul) Beeney, and Mathhew Wayne Williamson, five grandchildren, Phillip (Amber), Ryan (Johanna), Anthony, Courtney, and Elizabeth, and seven great grandchildren, Hazel, Colton, Elijah, Brooklyn, Brianna, Kota, and Luca.

Patsy retired from Graham Hospital after working there for 25 years. She also an Auxiliary Office for the Canton Police Department. She is member of the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, and a past member of the Canton Moose Lodge #784. She was public relations chairperson for ABATE, and part of the Cuba American Legion Auxiliary. Patsy enjoyed bowling and reading in her free time. Most of all she loved her children grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Cremation rites will be accorded.

Grant Siefert

Grant Siefert, 30, passed into heaven on Monday, November 11, 2024. He was born on July 17, 1994 in Peoria, a son of Wade and Jennifer Siefert.


Grant never knew a stranger, loved spending time with his family. He was quick to make you smile with his silly jokes. Grant was very kind and loving, with a particular fondness for animals. He participated in bowling, basketball, swim team and guitar lessons during his school years in Chatham/Springfield, and also at Dunlap High School, where he graduated in 2013.

Preceding Grant in death is his grandfathers, Glen Siefert, and Richard McConnell, grandmother Barbara Wiseman, Cousin Elizabeth Stufflebean, and his uncle Darrell McConnell.


Surviving Grant are his parents, Wade, and Jennifer Siefert; brothers, Colin and Adam Siefert; grandparents, Sharon McConnell, Marilyn Siefert, and Ron Wiseman; Aunts Jean Ann Siefert, Lana Formhals, Lorna (Speed) Bixby, and Julie (Rick) Burkhead, and cousins Courtney (Brandon) Kascmeyer, Tiffany (Andrew) Lundburgl, Amanda (Trent) Mahr, Darrick (Hannah) Burkhead, and Stewart Bixby.

Maudine C. Hamm

Maudine Cleo Hamm, 87, of Havana, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 3:45 a.m. at Sunset Rehab and Healthcare in Canton. She was born on March 18, 1937 in Virginia, Illinois to Clarence and Nellie (Morgan) Gentry. She married James Hamm and he preceded her in death on July 12, 2019.

Maudine is survived by her children, Debbie (Ted) Bortell and James Hamm, both of Havana; grandson, Ted Bortell, Jr.; and sister, Betty. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and son, Brian Hamm.

Cecelia “Cissy” Miller

Cecelia “Cissy” Miller, 67, of Canton, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at her home in Canton. She was born in Canton on May 9, 1957, to Lawrence and Elizabeth (Juricich) Urbanc. They preceded her in death. She is survived by two children, Jessica Reith and Nicholas Miller, two grandchildren, Elliot Reith and Jolene Reith, nine siblings, Pamela (John) Gross, David (Ronnie Farney) Urbanc, Teresa Nayden, Virginia (Ray) Snyder, Steven (the late Janine) Urbanc, Mark Urbanc, Patrick Urbanc, Maria (Troy) Sage, and Tony (Laura) Urbanc, and several nieces and nephews. Cissy retired from OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria in 2021. She graduated from Canton High School with the class of 1975. She is a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton. Debra S. Morse

Debra S. Morse, 69, of Elmwood, IL, passed away early on November 18, 2024, at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria. She was born February 10, 1955, in Peoria, IL, to Keith and Betty (Maher) Morse. She graduated with honors from Elmwood High School in 1973 and Southern Illinois University in 1976. Debra worked at Arthur Andersen after college. She left there and worked for the post office in Hanna City, Elmwood, and Canton until retiring in late 2020.

Debra always had a love for animals, especially horses and cats. She even owned a horse that she stabled in the family garage for a period of time.

She always had a thirst for knowledge and was an avid reader.

Debra is survived by her siblings, Raymond (Sally) Morse of Rochester, MN, Arlan (Ronna) Morse of Ashburn, VA, Brian (Kate) Morse of Peoria, and Tammy (Patrick) McCoy of Elmwood; eleven nieces and nephews; as well as several other relatives.

Memorials may be given to B.Y.E. Ambulance.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

John B. Allard

John B. Allard, 57, of Cuba, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2024, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born in Canton, on March 15, 1967, to Larry and Patricia (Bishop) Allard.

He is survived by his mother Pat, three children, Jesse (Jessica) Allard and their five children, Samantha (Bryce) Perry and their six children, and Dustin Allard and his son, one brother, Bobby (Alexis) Allard, three sisters, Sheila (the late Kevin) Shawgo, Larri Ann (Danny) Daugherty, and Dawn (the late Tim) Uryasz, brother-in-law Jim Wilson, and his girlfriend Amber Buskirk.

John is preceded in death by his father Larry, two brothers, Ravfe (Anne) Allard, and Bret Allard, and one sister Sue Wilson.

John was a third-generation truck driver for over 30 years. He currently worked in Havana at Lary Kahn and Sons.

He loved hunting, mudding and driving in his Jeep. John loved his Prairie Farms sweet tea. Most of all he loved his family.
