He was born on February 20, 1947 in Canton to Ned and Dorothy (Kline) Bennett. They preceded him in death along with one niece, Mary Sue Black.
Surviving is one brother, Kline (Late Edie) Bennett of Lewistown, three nieces, Stacy (Brad) Beard, Stephine Bennett, Sheri (Mike Thompson) Bennett, his niece’s husband, John Black and several great nieces and nephews.
Scott served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, was a member of the American Legion in Lewistown, the VFW #5001 in Lewistown and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He worked for International Harvester in Canton, Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Peoria and lastly retired in 2009 from Illinois River Correctional Facility.
Scott’s passion in life was his family farm where he grew corn, soy beans and raised cattle. He always had a special place in his heart for his self- proclaimed nephew, Brad who spent many hours with him on the farm.
Cremation rites have been accorded through Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton and a private celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the VFW Post #5001 or to Wounded Warriors.
