Mary E. Geber

Mary E. Geber, of Elmwood, passed away at 8:24 a.m., on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born June 26, 1942, in Canton, to Alexander and Grace (Haste) Morton. She married Don Geber on April 20, 1963, in Elmwood. He preceded her in death in March 1995.

She is survived by three children, Diane Geber of Heyworth, IL, David (Trish) Geber of Trivoli, and Daniel (Ronni) Geber of Chillicothe; one brother, Alex “Tony” (Dianne) Morton; six grandchildren, Bradley, BreAnne, Michele, Tarin, Jacob, and Chloee; and four great-grandchildren.

Mary graduated from Methodist School of Nursing in 1963. She then was a Nurse for Dr. Baylor for over ten years and also served as the parish nurse at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Elmwood and St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Farmington. Mary was also the former Director of Nursing for the Farmington Country Manor. She loved reading, shopping, and traveling.

A funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, June 19, 2023, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Elmwood. A visitation will be held one hour prior from noon to 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will immediately follow at Elmwood Township Cemetery.
